Bringing Viking History to Life in Oslo
Ever since our first family trip to Norway, we’ve been fascinated by Viking history. Our first introduction to this cultural heritage was The Viking Planet, an interactive Viking museum in Oslo. With hands-on exhibits that allowed us to experience Viking life firsthand, the museum provided a fun and engaging way to learn about their world. Trying on Viking helmets, discovering their navigation techniques, and hearing stories of their travels made us feel like we were stepping into their shoes. The museum not only shared the Vikings’ rich history but also gave us a deeper understanding of their lasting impact on Norway and beyond.
Discovering the Viking Legacy in Lofoten

One of the most striking spots on our journey was the Lofoten Viking Museum, tucked away in the beautiful Lofoten Islands. The museum offered an incredible look at the Vikings’ way of life, with interactive exhibits that brought their history to life. From learning about their impressive ships to exploring their tools and everyday life, we were captivated by the depth of their culture. The natural beauty of Lofoten, with its dramatic landscapes, made this experience even more special.
Next on Our Viking Journey
Though we’ve already experienced so much, our Viking adventure is far from over. Next on our wish list are the Viking Valley and Sverd i fjell, two spots we’re eager to explore. The Viking Valley will give us a taste of what life was truly like, while Sverd i fjell promises to be a powerful reminder of the Viking age and the unification of Norway. With each new destination, we’re uncovering more about this fascinating chapter of history and can’t wait for the next chapter of our journey.
