Why choose this route:
- The two-week holiday, used completely — north up the spine of the country, across the Arctic Circle, and home down the whole Helgeland coast
- The midnight sun as a destination: timed for the weeks when the day never ends
- Two full days in Lofoten, not a drive-through — time to ride the islands, not just cross them
- No fjord passes, on purpose: at 264 km a day it stays a tour rather than a rally, and nothing repeats on the way home
- A fraction of the price of a guided tour, with your own pace and your own preferences kept
Format:
A mobile-friendly digital tour book you bookmark on your phone, plus one GPX file per riding day. Instant download after payment, and emailed to you as well. No app, no account.
What’s included:
- An overview map and the complete day-by-day itinerary
- The highlights, local gems and experiences along each day’s ride, with a dinner recommendation for the evening
- Accommodation for every night — always two options, the best and the more economical alternative, each with a direct booking link
- The ferry crossings placed where they fall in the day, with the ones that need booking flagged
- A GPX file for every riding day — Garmin, TomTom, calimoto, Kurviger, Rever or your phone
Best suited for:
- Riders with two weeks who want the Arctic, the islands and the midnight sun
- A second Norway trip, after the fjords — this route deliberately shares no roads with our western Quests
- Combining with the 5-day Southern Quest back to back: nineteen days from the south coast to Lofoten
- Riders who want everything researched, prepared and booked-ready — just book, fly and ride
Practical information:
The tour starts and ends near Oslo Gardermoen airport. Edition 2027, updated once a year. One rider per purchase — a Group Licence covers up to five riders. Best ridden with The Essential Guide to Motorcycling in Norway, which this itinerary expands.
Disclaimer:
This is a summer route: the far north rides reliably from June through August. The itinerary lists exactly which crossings and stretches to check; check vegvesen.no for real-time road conditions before riding.
